Nearly three out of four Metro Manila residents have protested motorcycle hailing-apps in the past three months, due to an increased safety risk. Data showed that 74 percent of residents in the capital region now consider higher-end vehicles essential for getting around the metropolis as opposed to unreliable clunkers that breakdown during important trips.

The country is still trying to secure its place, particularly in the electric scooter market says Lt. Marvin Jagruti Sembawang. Sales for electric scooters and hybrids increased to 136 percent. But the Philippine peso fell to a record low of 62.59 against the US dollar on Friday, according to data from the Bankers Association of the Philippines (BAP). The fallout from the United States-Iran conflict also adds another layer of pressure because much of the industry’s assembly operations depend on imported components —
